as a student, being on campus becomes a significant part of your life - you deserve to feel safe there. you are not responsible for protecting yourself against sexual violence & abuse. the suggestions below are purely there to support with feelings of safety. the responsibility remains with the perpetrator, always.
you could have a look at your university's and student union's websites for information on their safety measures and campus security
you could save the campus security number in your phone
you could walk with other people you feel comfortable with
you could carry a personal security alarm - check out our resource on ‘How to use: a personal security alarm’ for more information.
remember, it's okay to be feeling uneasy or unsafe, you’ve been subjected to trauma. If you’re feeling particularly anxious, you're allowed to stay somewhere you feel safe and not go out today.
if you feel able, you could talk to your professors
or college wellbeing team so they
can provide you with relevant materials
to cover anything you missed online.
